I've been working away making pieces for my upcoming graduation show. The work is based on the life of a mysterious recluse. Rumoured to be a multi-millionaire freemason with a mean streak and boasting three ex-wives and three estranged daughters, these objects piece together his intimate world left behind after his passing. They are all made with thread using free-motion embroidery techniques on dissolvable stabilizer. You can see the stabilizer in the last photo because i'm not finished embroidering it yet. well, folks. this is it. i am resigning from my duties at milk & bread vintage. i remember sitting on the couch in our old apartment in oakville, saying to meghan, y'know... people sell their vintage stuff on this website called etsy and make decent money at it. it was a great way to validate our thrift shopping obsession, and it was a perfect side job while in school.

i'm no longer in school, and i'm working full-time as well as doing a number of side projects and i just don't have the time or energy to work at milk and bread anymore. it was a gem, a real turning point in my life, i'd say. independent business. but now it's time to hand the name over to meghan, who has been doing a great job keeping it up in my lack.

of course i will always follow milk & bread wherever meghan takes it, and i hope it continues to be a success. hard work does pay off. if you want to find me for whatever reason, i have just started blogging at heavy boots. as for vintage, well, i'm sticking to the few sparkly dresses in my closet that i just can't get rid of.

i have this problem where i walk into wal-mart or giant tiger and leave with box sets of scary movies. like the $5 for 10 movies kind. anyway, i couldn't refuse a set called nightmare in a box (what a great title). first up was dementia 13 - didn't get through it, so tired, but the babe in the movie has got great style. she's a total piece of work though. she gets hacked and then dragged out of a lake by her hair later.

will have to try again after not consuming too many hot toddies!

In this case, sulphur is used to create an accelerated oxidation process. Depending on the time that the silver is reacting with sulphur, different colour tones can be achieved, ranging from gold to brown, to purple to blue. The states of the oxidation process are being shown in a pattern that consists of the elemental geometric shapes."

Apologies for the low quality photo - but I just had to share these bags. They are locking deposit bags made of canvas. First National Bank of Cortland is embroidered by hand on them! I saw them in Montreal at this AMAZING shop called Style LABO. I wanted to buy one and use it as a clutch. There were also Swedish dog licence tags from the 1940s and wonderful brass rings without their stones.
